What else will they come up with?

The headline in today’s (yesterday, rather) Malay Mail caught my attention. It basically says that the health minister wants to ban fast-food advertisements, and at the same time, educate the public on how fast-food is bad for our health. Right…

I can’t help but to laugh after reading the first few paragraphs of the article. Don’t get me wrong, it is quite an interesting read. Also, they did come out with their facts on how much fat, calories and all the other ‘junk’ there are in a typical burger and fries. Measured in grams, of course ;) My question is, will banning fast-food advertisements help in making the Malaysian public consume less fast-food? Or will educating the public about the ‘dangers’ of eating fast-food stop them from eating it altogether? I think not.

An example, smoking. No matter how many campaigns or advertisements they come up with about the dangers of smoking, it still doesn’t stop them from smoking. Hell, the smokers themselves even know the dangers of it, and how hazardous it is for their health. Yet, they still continue to smoke. And increasing the price of cigarettes doesn’t help either. Why is that? Its because these things are very addictive. And some say that smoking helps them to overcome stress. That might be true for some, but I have no idea about, since I don’t smoke myself. But I’m right about the addiction part though. Its just hard for them to give up smoking. True, some have the willpower to overcome it, and succeeded, but the rest, they’re still indulging in it. Its basically the same with fast-food, seeing as how its so addictive :P

So there you have it. I don’t believe banning fast-food advertisements will help in making the public reduce their fast-food intake. Its going to take much more than that. I don’t even know what myself. But seriously, banning fast-food advertisements? That most definitely won’t work for me :P I’m pretty much hooked on it. Let me rephrase that, I’m addicted to fast-food :P And they can’t stop me from eating it whenever I damn please!

actually you can stop someone from buying/eating fast food through just a few methods.. through disgust and dissatisfaction

for those of you who are actually hooked on to fast food, have you ever looked at the patty they use? for beef, its basically a mixture of everything you can find in a cow; but of course they have a percentage of how much of each part from a cow they can mix around with. e.g. 70% pure beef, 5% liver, 5% heart, etc.. well this ain’t accurate, but its somewhat like that..

so the next time you eat beef burgers, try opening it up. you might find tubes :P well some companys actually blend them together nicely, so the consumers (you) cannot actually differentiate between them..

for chicken its the same thing like beef though maybe nowadays mc donalds have changed their methods of making them. theres a book recently released on the “secrets” about the fast food industry.

for me i’d stick to chicken at KFC.. no more burgers.. :P at least i know what i’m eating

Yup, I do know about it. At least I’ve heard of it, on how they process the patties. But then again, I stick to the principle of ‘ignorance is bliss’

As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger :P
